Contacts and your personal network
Bring the people you already know into a private network that only you can see.
Once your setup is finished, you have a personal network: a private community, named after you, where the people you already know go. It is private to you. Nobody else can join it or be invited to it, and nobody in it is invited or contacted: bringing someone in sends them nothing.
Pick your personal network in the community scope picker to search it, or to open its People page, as you would any other community (see My Network).
Where to find it
Settings → Contacts is where you fill your personal network. It has two imports, Bring my LinkedIn network and Bring my phone contacts. Each one adds the people from a file you give it, and importing the same file again only adds who is new.
When you import LinkedIn connections into a community you run, the import also offers Send them to my personal network, to keep them to yourself instead.
Bring your LinkedIn connections
LinkedIn lets you download your data as an archive. Open How do I get my LinkedIn export? for the steps: on LinkedIn, go to Me → Settings & Privacy → Data privacy → Download your data, pick the first option (the larger archive) and choose Request archive. LinkedIn emails you a link, which can take up to 24 hours. LinkedIn includes email addresses only for connections who allowed it.
Then choose Select LinkedIn export and pick the .zip file (or the Connections.csv file
inside it), or drop it on the page. JOGL Network reads only your connections. A preview says how
many it found and which rows it leaves out (a row with no name, or with neither a profile link nor an
email address). Confirm with Add … connections to my network. Connections are sent most recently
connected first, each with a LinkedIn tag.
Bring your phone contacts
Export your contacts as a .vcf file (a vCard, up to 30 MB):
- iPhone: in Contacts, tap Lists, touch and hold All Contacts, then Export.
- Android: in Contacts, tap Fix & manage, then Export to file.
- Google Contacts on the web: Export, then vCard.
Choose Select contacts file. JOGL Network reads names, email addresses, phone numbers, LinkedIn links, organizations, titles and cities; photos and notes are left out. It also leaves out company cards, cards with no name, and contacts with no email address, LinkedIn profile or phone number with its country code, since nothing would find them again. If some numbers are saved without their country code, choose the country they are from under Numbers saved without a country code are from; a card that names its own country keeps it. Confirm with Add … contacts to my network. Contacts are sent in your file's order, each with a Phone tag.
What an import does
Keep the page open until the import finishes. It then tells you how many people were added, how many were already in your network, and how many could not be imported.
- People already on JOGL whom you can reach (your connections, members of communities you run), found by their email address, are listed for you rather than added. Open their profile to send a connection request; Request pending shows where you already did.
- A contact with only a first or a last name is imported, but enrichment skips them until their name is completed.
- Open my network takes you to its People page. Enrich the new profiles offers to enrich the people just added, and shows the credits it would use before you start it.
- If the import stops part-way, the people already imported are kept; Try again imports the rest.
With your AI assistant
If you connect an AI assistant to JOGL Network through its MCP connector, it can fill your personal network for you (see MCP server for setup and its ready-made prompts):
- Gmail, Outlook and your calendar: the assistant reads your mail and calendar with its own connectors and sends JOGL Network only who you deal with and when. JOGL Network reads neither your mailbox nor your calendar, and never receives a subject or a message.
- WhatsApp: from a chat export you give the assistant, only who and when reach JOGL Network, never what was said.
- A LinkedIn export or a phone contacts file, as in the app.
The connection needs permission to add members, and your account's Write access (on by default) in Settings → API/MCP. Before suggesting enrichment, the assistant tells you the credits it would use and runs it only once you agree.
Source tags
Each person comes in with a tag naming where they came from: Gmail, Calendar, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Phone or Outlook. Someone found in two sources carries both tags; someone your assistant sends from any other source gets none. On your personal network's People page, these tags are gathered under a Source dropdown; picking two sources shows people from either.
Trial or plan
Filling your personal network needs a live free trial or plan. Without one, the import stops and says so, with Open Billing to start one; then import again. Credits bought on their own do not count.
On a free trial or the Plus plan, your personal network holds up to 200 people, as any community does; a Pro or Organization plan lifts the limit. When it is full, the remaining contacts are not sent (the oldest LinkedIn connections, or the end of your contacts file), and the import says how many.
Privacy
Your personal network and the people in it are visible to you alone, and sharing your network with a connection never includes it (see Network sharing). People who asked JOGL not to record them are not imported. What an assistant sends about who you deal with is dates and counts, never content, readable by you alone, and included in your data export (see Privacy & GDPR).
