My Network
Connections, connection requests, suggestions, and who you can reach.
My Network (sidebar entry when your scope is All my network) is your personal graph across every community: the people you're connected with, requests waiting on you, and suggestions of who to meet next.
Connections
A connection is a mutual link between two members, like on a professional network. Connections can see the contact details you share with Connections only, can be given access to your bookings, and can be invited to collaborate on your projects.
To connect, use Connect on a search result or a people card, or the connect button on a profile, and optionally add a message. The button shows Requested while the other person decides (Pending on a profile, where its menu offers Withdraw request), and Connected once they accept. If someone has sent you a request, the button reads Respond and takes you to your requests; on their profile you can accept or decline it in place. A profile nobody has claimed yet has no connect button. If either of you has blocked the other, the block removes any connection or request between you and neither of you can send the other a new one while it stands; the person who blocked sees Blocked in place of Connect on the other's profile (see blocking a member).
Requests
Open your requests with the Requests link at the top of My Network (it reads, for example, 2 asks when requests are waiting). The view lists Received requests (accept or decline) and Sent requests (with Withdraw). A request the other person declined is not shown to you as declined: it stays in Sent and reads as still waiting, there, on their profile and on their card, and you can withdraw it like any other. The sidebar shows a badge with the number of requests waiting on you.
After you withdraw a request, you wait 30 days before you can send that person a new one, and you can send the same person three requests in all (the count starts again once you have been connected). The confirmation says when you can ask again (Request withdrawn. You can send this person a new request from …) or that it was your last, and Connect says the same if you press it before then.
Who may send you a request is your choice, in Settings → Privacy: Anyone, Members of my communities + Members of my connections' communities, Members of my communities only, or No one. When someone's setting would refuse your request, the Connect button on their profile is greyed out, and pressing it says why. On a person card or a search result, Connect says why when you press it.
When someone accepts a request you sent, a message from Jojo tells you, with a See profile button, and Jojo mentions it on the search page. It is also pushed and emailed as your Push notifications and Email notifications switches allow.

Your personal network
Once your setup is finished, you also have a personal network: a private community that only you can see, called My Personal Network and listed first in the community scope picker, where the people you already know go. In the community picker, the header and My communities it shows your profile photo in place of a logo, its settings have no logo to upload, and its name cannot be changed. My communities gives it a card of its own above your communities. Nobody else can join it or be invited to it, and nobody in it is contacted. You bring people into it from Settings → Contacts, which needs a live free trial or plan; pick it in the scope picker to search it or open its People page, where a Source dropdown filters people by where they came from. Sharing networks with a connection
With a Plus, Pro or Org plan, you and a connection can agree to search each other's networks: Share my network, in the … menu on their profile, sends the request. See Network sharing.
Who you can reach
Messaging, connection requests, meeting requests, and bookings follow the same base rule. You can reach someone when their own setting allows it, and either:
- you are in reach of each other — you share a community, or you are connected — or
- your account is verified.
This gate is checked when a conversation is opened, not on every message. An existing DM thread therefore keeps working after you stop sharing a community or the other person tightens their setting: the tightening governs new conversations, not ones already under way. Connection and meeting requests are one-off actions, so for them the check is the whole story. A block overrides all of this: while either of you has blocked the other, neither of you can reach the other in any of these ways, not even in a conversation already under way or through the event exemptions below (see blocking a member).
Accounts created before trust levels existed carry no level and count as verified, so the gate does not touch them. It is not simply a matter of age, though: some accounts the platform creates for you, such as an event guest imported from Luma or Eventbrite or an account created through the API, start out unverified, and an account a moderator has flagged for review reads unverified however old it is. Some accounts are verified automatically, for example one that the platform created when a community paying for JOGL Network imported its members or an event's guests, and opening Settings → Account checks again. An account you created yourself is not verified just because an admin added it to such a community. An unverified account also can't join a public community on its own.
Two event surfaces are exempt from the rule:
- A meeting request inside an event is allowed between two attendees of that event while its networking is open, even if they share no community and are not connected, and it has no recipient-side preference of its own.
- Bookings opened for an event. When a host switches on "Let people at this event book a meeting with you", anyone attending that event can book them — on top of, and regardless of, the host's usual "Who can book" audience, and without any verification check. Both people must still be attending when the booking is made.
When a reach check fails you see one of:
- "This person isn't accepting messages right now." — their setting excludes you.
- "Verify your account to reach people outside your own communities. A personal paid plan can verify it, and so can a personal free trial when Stripe can identify its card and the card isn't already saved on another JOGL account. If your account stays unverified, email support@jogl.io." — your account is new and not yet verified. A trial or plan bought for an organisation does not verify you, and adding a LinkedIn URL to your profile does not verify it on its own.
