Messaging
Direct messages, reactions, read receipts, and AI-suggested replies.
JOGL Network has built-in direct messaging so you can reach other members without leaving the platform.
Conversations
Open Messages (the envelope in the header) to see your conversations. Each conversation is a real-time thread with one other member. Unread conversations show a badge, and the header button carries your total unread count. Start a conversation from someone's profile or search result (Contact), or with New message from the Messages page.
What you can do in a message
- React with emoji — tap a message to add an emoji reaction; reactions show a count and highlight the ones you added.
- See read receipts — a single check means your message was sent; a double check means it was read, with the time on hover.
- Send images and attachments.
- See typing and online indicators when the other person is writing or present.
Some system cards also arrive as messages: community invitations and shared projects, each with Accept / Decline buttons.
AI help
- Suggest a reply — when the last message is from the other person, ask JOGL Network to draft a response you can send as-is or edit.
- Conversation starters and an intro generator help you open a first conversation with someone you found in search.
Who can message you
Choose in Settings → Notifications → Messaging ("Who can message you"): Anyone, Members of my communities + My connections, My connections only, or No one. Someone excluded by your setting sees "This person isn't accepting messages right now." when they try to start a conversation with you; a thread that already exists between you stays open, so change the setting before a first message if you want to close the door entirely. New-message notifications arrive by push and email according to your notification settings.
