Search
Find the right experts with Auto, Fast Search, and Deep Search.
Search is the heart of JOGL Network. You describe who you're looking for in plain language and it ranks members by how well they match — using semantic search over profiles, publications, and professional backgrounds, not just keywords. Each search is a chat: you can refine, ask follow-up questions, and come back to it later from the sidebar.
Search modes
In the search composer you can pick a mode:
- Auto — let JOGL Network decide whether a fast or deep search fits your query. This is the default.
- Fast Search — a single-pass expert search that returns a ranked list of members.
- Deep Search — a thorough, two-turn search (see below). When Auto picks Deep Search, the composer shows Deep Search (awaiting confirmation) until you confirm the plan.
Deep Search
Deep Search is interactive and runs in two turns:
- You enter your query. JOGL Network analyzes it and proposes a Deep Search Plan — a set of search lanes (sub-needs) it will search for. You can check or uncheck each one.
- Optionally toggle Suggest team composition on the plan card to have it propose groups of complementary people rather than a flat list.
- Confirm & Search, and it runs the plan and returns grouped results. With team composition on, you also get Suggested Teams showing what each team covers and its gaps; you can save a team, copy it as markdown, or download it as CSV.
This is the right mode when you're assembling a team or exploring a broad, multi-part need.
Scoping your search
- Community — the header picker selects one community or All my communities.
- Event — when the selected community has an event, the composer lets you search the whole community or only that event's participants (see Event mode). The scope is fixed for the rest of that chat.
- Project — file the search under one of your projects, or create a new one from the composer.
A search across all your communities (a global search) is paid from your own credit balance, or your organization's. A search inside a single community may be covered by that community, but it is not guaranteed: cover applies only when the community is owned by an organization and either standing funding reaches you as a member of that organization, or a delegation budget with capacity left matches. A community owned by a person, or an organization community where neither applies, falls back to your own balance. The composer warns you that global search needs credits when the wallet it would actually bill cannot cover it — which is not the same as your own balance being empty: an organization wallet with credits silences the warning even when yours is empty, and an organization wallet you picked yourself can raise it even when yours is not.
Voice input
Anywhere you can type a search, you can also dictate it. Tap the microphone button and speak; your speech is transcribed in real time. You can pick your microphone and cancel a recording in progress.
Working with results
Each result carries a relevance score and a short explanation of why it matched, so you can judge the results, not just trust them. From a result card you can:
- Connect — send a connection request (see My Network).
- Contact — see the contact details the person shares with you, and start a message when the result is a member who has joined and whose messaging settings allow you to write to them. Results that are profiles JOGL Network holds but nobody has claimed show contact details only.
- Save to project — bookmark the profile into a project.
