Jojo, your guide

Meet Jojo, the little giant who shows you around JOGL Network and points out what is waiting for you.

Jojo, the little giant is JOGL Network's mascot and guide. Jojo hosts your search page, explains each page the first time you open it, gives a short welcome tour once your setup is finished, and brings you JOGL's notices in Messages.

Jojo's help is always an offer, never a step you must take: you can skip any card or tour, and turn most of it off. What Jojo says on cards and tours is written in advance, in English and French; it is not generated by AI.

On your search page

A new search opens on a page hosted by Jojo, who says one thing at a time about what is waiting for you (an invitation, a request, an unread message, news from JOGL), with a button that takes you to it. Later quiets Jojo for the rest of your visit. Jojo also dresses up for a few days around Halloween and Christmas. See Search for everything Jojo points out there.

First-steps cards

The first time you open many pages, Jojo shows a card at the top of the page about what you can do there. Cards appear on your search results, My network, Messages, an event's networking page once you take part in it, Communities, My projects while you have none, your own profile, My communities, and most Settings pages.

Each card has Got it, which closes it for good, and, on a page Jojo can walk you through, Show me around, a short walk-through of the page (below). The page's main action, such as New message or Create a project, comes at the end of that walk-through.

A card you close, by either button, stays closed on all your devices.

The welcome tour

Once you have finished setting up your account, Jojo shows a six-slide welcome tour over your search page, once, on your next visit. It covers what JOGL Network lets you do: asking for anyone in your own words, making the most of events, connecting and keeping in touch, and the profile Jojo builds from your public work.

Move through it with Next and Back (or the arrow keys), or leave it with Skip tour or the close button. The last slide offers Start searching and Show me around.

Show me around

Show me around dims the page while Jojo walks to its main parts, one at a time, with a short tip at each and Next to go on. Skip (or Escape, or leaving the page) ends it. The last step finishes with Done or with the page's main action, such as New message or Create a project. If your device asks for reduced motion, Jojo stands still instead of walking.

Notices in Messages

Notices from JOGL come from Jojo. Its row in Messages carries a Notifications badge, and the Jojo tab, there once JOGL has written to you, narrows the list to it. Jojo's notices are about your communities, meetings and credits, and each can carry a button that takes you to what it is about, such as See profile, See the event or Open the community. You can't reply to Jojo. See Messaging and Notifications.

On your search page, Jojo also says what your newest unread notice is about, and its button opens it.

Elsewhere in the app

Jojo also keeps you company while a page loads, on empty pages and error pages, on the sign-in page, on the cards that greet you when you open an invitation, and in the short chat that fills the gaps in your profile.

If you run a community, Jojo also gives an admin tour of its dashboard and shows first-steps cards on the dashboard's sections (see For community owners & admins).

Ask Jojo for help, under Help and feedback in your profile menu, opens the support assistant, which answers your questions about JOGL from this documentation. Unlike the cards and tours, its answers are written by AI (see Getting help).
