Install the app (PWA)
Add JOGL Network to your phone or desktop for an app-like experience.
JOGL Network is a Progressive Web App (PWA). You don't need an app store — you can install it straight from your browser and it runs in its own window, like a native app, with support for push notifications.
On Android / Chrome
When you use JOGL Network on a mobile browser, a banner appears at the bottom of the screen: Install as an app for a better experience. Tap Install App and confirm.
You can also trigger it from the profile menu: open the menu and choose Get the app (the entry only appears while the app can be installed on that device).
If you dismiss the banner, an Installation reminder lets you choose I'll do it later (it comes back after a few days) or Never again.
On iPhone / iPad (Safari)
iOS installs PWAs through the Share sheet:
- Tap the Share icon in Safari.
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Confirm.
The in-app banner shows a Show me how button that walks you through these steps.
On desktop
In a desktop Chromium browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave), an install icon appears in the address bar. Click it to install JOGL Network as a desktop app.
Updates
The app checks for new versions in the background. When an update is ready you'll be prompted to reload, and while you're working the choice is yours — an update is not applied out from under an active session.
There is one exception, and it only ever fires when you come back to a backgrounded tab — never while you are using one. On that return the app applies a pending update by itself if the tab had been in the background for 8 hours or more, or if the update had been waiting for 24 hours. So you come back to an already-updated tab rather than a stale one holding an unread prompt; a tab you leave open and visible keeps the prompt until you act on it.
The installed app is the same product as the website, just in its own window. You stay signed in, and everything (search, messages, events) works the same.
